Who is eligible for LSAT—India^TM?

All candidates who complete the test registration application including uploading a photo and electronic copy of valid photo ID, pay the registration fee in a timely manner and follow the published test rules may sit for the LSAT—India^TM.

LSAT—India^TM is a single test for admission to multiple law schools in India. It is the candidate's responsibility to understand the eligibility requirements of the law college to which he/she is applying before deciding to register for the LSAT—India^TM. If one registers for the test and then determines that one is ineligible for admission to the intended law school, no test-fee refund will be available. For the eligibility requirements of the LSAT—India^TM Associated Law Colleges, candidates are requested to visit the respective law colleges' webpages.

What will I need to register for the LSAT—India^TM?

You will need a valid email address, mobile number, and one of the valid photo IDs from the acceptable ID list. You can follow the instructions to capture your photo through the integrated camera within the registration application or upload a digital photograph of yourself. In either case, please do read the instructions carefully to ensure your photo is not rejected. You will also be required to pay the requisite test fee via any of the multiple digital payment options available.

What kind of identification do I need to take the online LSAT—India^TM?

During the registration you will be required to upload on the registration site an electronic copy (photo, scan, etc.) of one of the IDs below. The ID must be original, should not be expired, have your Date of Birth (DOB) and should have a recognisable photograph and signature. The first and last names on the ID must match the names entered when registering. Do not upload a password-protected version of your ID. The following are acceptable forms of ID:

• UIDAI / Aadhaar Card (Coloured or black/white E-Aadhaar Print is acceptable, but Aadhaar registration slip is NOT acceptable.)
• Passport
• Election Card / Voter ID
• PAN Card
• Driver’s License
• SC/ ST Certificate with photograph
• Military ID / Government-issued Armed Forces Dependent ID containing photograph of the test-taker
• Employee ID containing photograph and signature.

Please note that the following are NOT acceptable as IDs:

• Photocopies (attested or otherwise)
• Notarised copies
• Learner's driving license

Can I edit my registration application after I have submitted the registration fee?

Most of the information in your application cannot be changed after you have submitted the application and paid the registration fee. So, it is important that you enter all the information carefully when registering. If you do not have a required piece of information or are uncertain about the accuracy of some information, you can save your application and return to it when you have the accurate information. You may be allowed to edit only some of the information after you have submitted your registration fee.

When is my registration for the LSAT—India^TM complete? How will I know?

Your registration is complete when you have entered all the required information on the registration application, uploaded your photo and Identification document, and submitted the requisite payment. You will receive an email on your registered email ID confirming that your registration is complete. You can also access this information from the dashboard available in the registration application after you sign in. Please note that closer to the test date you may be required to submit a test appointment preference to be eligible for appearing for the test.

When will the LSAT—India^TM exam be held in 2023?

Do I need to be an Indian national to take the LSAT—India^TM?

LSAT—India^TM is the test for admission into multiple law schools in India. You may be from any country, but you may take the test only from within India or from within one of the following countries: Bangladesh, Nepal, Bhutan, Pakistan, Maldives, Sri Lanka, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, Oman, Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia, Tanzania, Qatar or Bahrain. You must notify Pearson VUE in writing of your intent to test from within one of the above listed countries (except India) at least 1 month prior to the relevant test date. You can do so by writing to us at lsatindia@pearson.com. Failing to do so will lead to the cancellation of your test.

What should be my qualification to take the LSAT—India^TM test?

• Candidates applying for 5-year Integrated programs are only required to be appearing for XII class exam or have already cleared it.
• Candidates who are applying for the 3-year LLB program or LLM programs are required to have completed their graduation or appearing in the final year.

Is there any age limit for LSAT—India^TM?

Pearson VUE does not have any age restriction for the candidates who are interested in taking the LSAT—India^TM. Anyone who has registered for the LSAT—India^TM may sit for the test. It is advisable to refer to the eligibility criteria, including any age limit set forth by the law college that you are interested in getting admission into.

Do I need to register again if I want to appear for LSAT—India^TM in May after taking the January test?

You may choose to appear for the test in January and then decide to pay the fees for the test in June at a later stage by logging in into the same registration application. You will be required to select the June test and pay the fee for the same. You need not create another account or registration application for the same.

Which score will be considered by law schools if I take the test more than once in in a testing year?

Pearson VUE will report all of your scores to all LSAT—India^TM Associated law Colleges. However, you may select which of the score reports to submit when applying to law colleges.

How many times is LSAT—India^TM conducted every year?

LSAT—India^TM is conducted twice every year since 2021.

Why is LSAT—India^TM conducted twice every year?

LSAT—India^TM is conducted multiple times in a year to provide opportunity to candidates to take the test when they feel they are better prepared to take the test. Candidates unable to perform well in the first test can go for the second attempt to improve their score.

What are the different types of LSAC LawPrep^sm test series?

PrepTests are available in three collections – Silver (3 PrepTests), Gold (5 PrepTests), and Platinum (10 PrepTests), offering access to a comprehensive collection of practice tests.

Note that some PrepTest series have overlapping content. For instance, the five PrepTests that are in a Gold series will overlap with the PrepTests in two of the three Silver series. None of the PrepTests in each Gold series overlap and none of the PrepTests in the Silver series overlap. Platinum series contains all of the PrepTests that are in the Silver and Gold series.

Can I experience the LSAC LawPrep^sm platform before buying any of the PrepTest series?

You can take the Mock test at minimum cost by creating your profile at LSAC LawPrep^sm. It is one full practice test having 92 questions using the authentic LSAT—India^TM test environment launched in 2020.

What is the purpose of the 'Additional Time' versions of the Mock Test and PrepTests?

Some candidates for the LSAT—India^TM and other law entrance tests will request and receive extra time on test day because they have a disability. For these candidates, we have created versions of all of the PrepTests with additional time added to the timer. The time permitted for each section of an Additional Time PrepTest will be 50 minutes, as compared to 35 minutes for the regular PrepTest sections.

How many attempts can I make for each PrepTest?

You may attempt each PrepTest five times.

How does LSAC LawPrep^sm compare to the other test preparation products in terms of pricing?

The preparation products offered are very cost effective. For students, who just want to attempt a practice test, one Mock practise test is available at no cost. For students who want to do more in-depth studying and take multiple practice tests, our Silver, Gold, and Platinum collections provide access to a number of PrepTests with attempts up to 5 times each. Are there any key differences between the LSAC LawPrep^sm experience and what an LSAT—India^TM test taker will experience on test day?

Following are the key differences between LSAC LawPrep^sm and LSAT—India^TM test day experience:

• Unlike the PrepTests on LSAC LawPrep^sm, in order to take the real LSAT—India^TM, you will need to download a special locked-down browser that we will provide to you.
• Unlike the PrepTests on LSAC LawPrep^sm, on test day your webcam will record you and you will be able to see your own image in a corner of the screen.
• While you can navigate freely back and forth between sections on the PrepTests (as long as timer has not expired), you will not be able to return to a section once you navigate away from it on the real LSAT—India^TM.
• Some questions in the PrepTests on LSAC LawPrep^sm only have four answer choices, but every question on the real LSAT—India^TM will have five answer choices.

Can I change the timer to give myself more time when taking a PrepTest?

You have 35 minutes for each section and the timer cannot be adjusted. It is important to learn to practice under timed conditions in order to simulate a real test experience. Bear in mind, however, that you do have five attempts for each PrepTest. Also, you may review your test after each attempt and take your time to understand questions you may have missed or skipped when taking the PrepTest initially.

Some candidates for the LSAT—India^TM and other law entrance tests will request and receive extra time on test day because they have a disability. What is the fee for LSAT—India^TM?

What is the mode of payment for the registration fee and/or buying test prep material?

Payment for the registration fee and/or for test prep material may be made online using a credit card and/or other digital payment modes during the registration period. Your registration will not be considered complete and you may not sit for the LSAT—India^TM if you have not paid the registration fee during the registration period.

Can I cancel my registration and get a refund?

No request for refund of registration fee will be entertained once candidate has successfully registered for the test.

Do I get any discount if I register for both the tests at the same time?

Pearson VUE may offer discounted bundles of tests and LSAC LawPrep^sm products from time to time. Be sure to check the registration site or LSAT—India^TM Fees and Payments for the latest information on discounted products.

Is it possible to defer my LSAT—India^TM registration to next year?

No. Once a candidate registers and pays for the LSAT—India^TM, he she will not be able to defer it to the next test administration or next year.

How long does it take for LSAC LawPrep^sm to be delivered after I make the payment?

LSAC LawPrep^sm is online test prep material which is accessible to you as soon as your payment is successfully received.

What will be the test pattern for online LSAT—India^TM?

The online LSAT—India^TM test pattern will remain the same as the 2020 and 2021 online LSAT—India^TM administration and the standard offline LSAT—India^TM delivered between 2009 and 2019. Just as with the previously administered tests, the online LSAT—India^TM will comprise of four scored 35-minute sections as below:

How long is the online LSAT─India^TM?

The maximum testing time for taking the LSAT—India^TM is 2 hours 20 minutes. The test consists of four timed sections of 35 minutes each. Candidates will not be able to attempt questions or review answers once the section time is over. Additional time will be provided for check-in procedures and other formalities before the test.

If I complete answering all the questions before the allotted section time, will the balance time be added to the next section/s?

No. If you complete answering a section before the allotted section time expires, the balance time will not be added to the next section’s allotted time.

Will there be any breaks during the test?

There are no scheduled breaks for candidates during the online LSAT—India^TM.

What types of questions are on the test?

There are three types of questions on the LSAT—India^TM: Analytical Reasoning, Logical Reasoning, and Reading Comprehension.

When will the test be administered in 2023?

What are the technical requirements to take the online LSAT—India^TM?

Refer to the Testing and Equipment requirements section of FAQ for technical requirements of LSAT—India^TM. It is candidate’s responsibility to read and understand the requirements, failing which they may not be able to take the test. No refunds will be offered to the candidates in such case.

Will I be able to select my preferred date and slot of the test?

If the number of potential test takers permits it, candidates may be able to provide their choice of preferred dates and slots from the test slots offered during a scheduling window. The dates and slots will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. LSAC will try to provide the preferred Test Appointment selected by the Candidate but reserves the right to determine Candidate's Test Appointment in order to meet overall scheduling needs.

How can I select my preferred date and slot for the LSAT—India^TM administration?

Detailed information on the selection of date and slot for LSAT—India^TM will be provided once scheduling window is announced for the test.

Will I be able to reschedule my test in case of an emergency?

In case of any emergency that may not allow you to take the test on the allotted / selected slot, you may write to lsatindia@pearson.com with the request to reschedule your test to a new date and slot. All such requests must be accompanied with relevant documents to support the reason for the change. Candidate support team will do their best to accommodate your request. From your dashboard, click the yellow tab on the right side of the screen that says 'Any Queries? Ask Us' to enter the request. This request must be received during the announced period that will be mentioned on the Key LSAT—India^TM Dates page. Please note that the request for such a change will be entertained only once.

Which law colleges accept LSAT—India^TM scores?

Pearson VUE has associated with many colleges where LSAT—India^TM scores are a preferred criterion for admission. Many other law colleges in India also accept LSAT—India^TM scores in their selection process. You should check with the law college you are considering for admission regarding the test scores that they accept for admission.

How is the LSAT—India^TM different from the LSAT?

The LSAT is an admissions test for North American and Australian graduate law programmes. The LSAT—India^TM is an admission test customised for Indian law colleges and is used only for admission to law colleges within India. The LSAT—India^TM includes the same question types as the LSAT, but is shorter, and scores are reported on a different scale. Scores from the two tests cannot be compared.

What kind of equipment do I need in order to take the online LSAT—India^TM?

To provide broad availability to candidates, the online LSAT—India^TM can be accessed by candidates with a laptop or desktop computer. However, test cannot be accessed through mobile phones. Candidates trying to take the system readiness check prior to test or LSAT—India^TM test during their scheduled appointment on mobile phones will face issues and technical teams will not be able to provide any assistance.

What Operating system do I need on my laptop or desktop computer in order to take the online LSAT—India^TM?

You should have secured access to a personal computer with one of the following operating system as a minimum:

• Windows Operating Systems supported:
  • Windows 11 (64-bit) (excluding 'S Mode')
  • Windows 10 (64-bit) (excluding 'S Mode')
  • Windows 8.1 (64-bit) (all editions except 'RT')

Requirements for BOTH Window OS and Mac OS computers:

• Do not take your exam using a computer that is managed by network/configured under a corporate firewall (including VPN). Computers managed by corporate organisations and office computers will have stringent rules imposed on them by the organisation. Thus attempting the exam using such computers will result in a difficult testing experience.
• OS specified minimum RAM
• 4 GB RAM or more
• Attached or integrated working Camera, allowing camera to access the video capture during the exam
• Administrator privileges to install applications
• Internet with consistent speed (as equivalent to browsing) (2 to 5 Mbps). Mobile hotspot and Dongle are not recommended as these can impact your testing experience due to varying speeds.
• Supported web browser in Windows – Chrome (82.0 or above), Firefox (68 or above), Safari (Latest version)
• Supported web browser in Mac – Safari (14.1.2 and above), Chrome (94.0.46 and above) and Firefox (92 and above)
• Internet Explorer/Edge are prohibited
• Disable pop-up blockers in web browser
• Internet Cookies must be enabled
• Updated Anti-virus software installed
• End all web sharing applications like Skype, Team Viewer, MS Teams, Zoom, GoToMeeting, ShareIt, Webex, etc.
• No tablet (hybrid like Windows Surface Pro as well) or mobile phone may be used for testing

All candidates who have successfully paid their LSAT—India^TM registration fee will be required to complete a system verification step closer to the exam date in order to check whether their computer and other equipment meet the requirements to take the online LSAT—India^TM. If candidate’s equipment does not successfully pass the system verification, the candidate must obtain replacement equipment and perform the system verification step again. No one, who hasn’t successfully completed the system verification step, will be allowed to take the LSAT—India^TM.

What Operating system are strictly prohibited in order to take the online LSAT—India^TM?

Note that following are strictly prohibited for exam delivery:

• Windows Vista, Windows XP, and Windows 7
• Internet Explorer/Edge
• All Linux/Unix based Operating Systems

Can I use Dongle or Firestick for internet while giving LSAT—India^TM online test?

It is advised to have a stable internet connection with consistent speed as mentioned in technical specifications. Dongle / Firestick and Mobile hotspots are not recommended for taking the LSAT—India^TM.

What if I don’t have all the equipment that I need to take the online LSAT—India^TM (e.g.- a webcam, etc.)?

Candidates are required to have the mentioned equipment with the configuration to take LSAT—India^TM.

How will Pearson VUE ensure the online LSAT—India^TM is secure?

Pearson VUE considers the security, integrity, and validity of LSAT—India^TM to be of utmost importance. We are accordingly implementing the highest standards of security. Candidates will take the test via a secured browser and will be unable to access any of the computer’s other programs during the test. Candidates’ activities during the test will be recorded via their webcam. Any sign of possible candidate misconduct, including collaboration with others, will be detected using the AI-assisted technology and human reviewers.

Will personal information from my computer be accessed while taking the online LSAT—India^TM?

No personal information can be accessed from your computers without your knowledge while you take the online LSAT—India^TM.

Do I need any prior technical knowledge to take LSAT—India^TM 2023?

No. There is no technical knowledge necessary to take LSAT—India^TM. To alleviate any stress on the day of the test, candidates can experience testing interface using the LSAC LawPrep^sm free mock test.

How can I prepare for the LSAT—India^TM?

Is there any special preparation necessary for the online LSAT—India^TM?

There is no special preparation necessary to take the online LSAT—India^TM. To familiarise you with the navigation through the exam and functionality of the online LSAT—India^TM, a full-length mock test with 92 questions is available from your LSAT—India^TM registration dashboard at a nominal cost.

What is a good LSAT—India^TM score for admission in a top law school?

Admission and eligibility criteria are decided by individual law colleges accepting LSAT—India^TM scores. You are requested to check with your preferred college regarding desirable scores.

What is the procedure for taking the online LSAT—India^TM?

After closure of registration, a candidate’s Test Appointment (date and time) will be communicated to him/her via email. Please see the ‘Online LSAT—India^TM section on this page to know about the scheduling and rescheduling process. Pearson VUE will inform the dates where candidates are required to perform a system verification step to verify that they meet the system specifications for taking the online test. Additional communication regarding the process of taking the test will be made available to the candidates as their Test Appointment approaches.

Can I work at any time on any section of the test?

The LSAT—India^TM test sections orders are pre-defined. Each section will be timed (35 minutes) and you will not be able to access a section once the time for that section is over or you have navigated to the next section. However, you will be able to review your answers in that section during the allotted section time.

What am I allowed to have with me during the online LSAT—India^TM?

You are allowed to have only pencils, sharpeners, erasers, beverage in clear container, and two (2) single sheets of unmarked paper in your workspace. You must not have in your workspace (desk or table or work surface and the area within arm’s reach of that space) anything other than the items described above at the time of the test, including during the check-in period. Any articles such as mobile phones, cameras, headphones, earphones, smart watches, beepers, calculators, notes, notebooks, dictionaries, arms, etc. are considered prohibited items and must be excluded from your workspace. Accessing a prohibited item at any time during the test will be considered misconduct and will be grounds for cancellation of your score with no possibility of refund or retest.

What behaviours are prohibited?

Adhering to the highest moral and ethical standards is essential for those in the legal profession. The following describes some forms of misconduct that are grounds for possible dismissal and cancellation of your score. This list is for illustration purposes only and is NOT an exhaustive list:

• Using or accessing any books, notes, or study material of any kind.
• Permitting any other person any kind of access to the test content or computer you are using for testing.
• Modifying the web camera’s view in any way except to permit a better view of your face.
• Having any electronic device other than the testing equipment in the workspace.
• Communicating or interacting with anyone other (aside from the support team, if necessary).
• Speaking aloud.
• Allowing your face to leave the webcam’s frame on screen.
• Attempting to run any software application besides the test application.
• Attempting to copy the test material text or record the screen.
• Connecting or disconnecting any external storage devices.
• Taking the test in a cybercafé, library, or other public place.
• Taking the test in the same room at the same time as another Candidate.
• Sharing details of the test in any form, oral or written, which includes sharing test content on the internet or through any means or media.
• Collaborating or receiving assistance from any other person in answering the test questions.

What electronic devices are prohibited?

All electronic devices except those being used to take the test are prohibited: mobile phones, tablets (including hybrid tablets like windows Surface Pro) timers of any kind, electronic cigarettes, fitness-tracking devices, digital watches, calculator watches, chronograph watches (digital or nondigital), beepers, pagers, personal digital assistants (PDAs), calculators, cameras, recording devices, listening devices, headsets, and iPods and other media players, etc. Please note that laptops and personal computers that are not being used to take the test are also prohibited. If your session is flagged for a violation during the test, your web camera data gathered during the test may be referred to for an investigation and any misconduct detected may lead to cancellation of your score for the year with no possibility of refund or retest.

Can I access any material on my computer or browse anything on the internet while I take the online LSAT—India^TM?

Secured Browser, required to take the test, blocks access to any application other than the test. You will not be able to access or use any other program on your system while taking the LSAT—India^TM. Attempt to do so will be grounds for cancellation of your score with no possibility of refund or retest.

Where should I take the online test?

Choose a quiet, well-lit, and private work area where you can complete the test without interruption. Ensure that your workspace is clean and clear of all prohibited items. Your entire face must be clearly visible throughout the test. Once you begin testing, do not move out of view of the webcam or change working environments until the test is over.

Can I take the test in a cyber-café, library, or other public place?

No, you may not take the LSAT—India^TM in any public space. Doing so will be grounds for cancellation of your score.

What if I need headphones, earphones, or earbuds to take the test?

Unless a specified accommodation has been granted, candidates cannot wear headphones or earphones, earbuds, or anything similar. You may use non-electronic earplugs for noise cancellation. These may be basic foam-style earplugs that are inserted into the ears and are easily available in the market. If you are found using earphones or similar device, this may lead to cancellation of your score with no possibility of refund or retest.

What should I wear during my testing session?

Your testing session will be proctored live, and video of your session will later be reviewed by Pearson VUE personnel. Dress as you would if you were taking the test in person at a physical testing centre. Items that can obscure your face from the camera’s view, such as hats or hoods (with the exception of religious apparel), sunglasses, and headphones, may not be worn.

What happens if I lose my internet connection, or have other technical difficulties during the test?

In most cases, the remote proctoring system will save your progress and pause the test while the technical issue is resolved, then restart the test and allow you to resume where you left off. You will not lose any test time. If you are unable to restore your connection within 60 minutes, your testing session will be terminated. You may be allowed to take the test again if you submit a request for a retest using the Query system on your Registration Dashboard. What if someone else enters the room while I am taking the test?

You must inform your family members and other people present at your home to not be present anywhere near the area where you are taking the test. If someone enters the area by mistake, ask them to leave immediately. Your testing session will be flagged for review, but you will not be penalised if it is concluded that no misconduct occurred.

I am a Person with Disability (PWD candidate). How will the test format accommodate my special needs and support requirement?

Pearson VUE is committed to working with candidates with disabilities to see that their special needs are met under the circumstances. All candidates who have provided details of their disability during registration will be contacted to understand their support requirements for taking the test. For you, we have created versions of PrepTests as well as Mock test with additional time added to the timer. The time permitted for each section of an Additional Time PrepTest will be 50 minutes, as compared to 35 minutes for the regular PrepTest sections.

When and how will I learn my LSAT—India^TM score?

Scores are generally available a few weeks after the test date. Scores are released as soon as they are ready. No announcement of a score release date should be taken to be a guarantee that scores will be released that day.
You will receive email notification when your Score Card is available for download from the registration site.

Under what circumstances can my score be cancelled?

Any failure to follow the testing rules, violation of the Candidate agreement (Terms and Conditions), or cheating are grounds for cancellation of scores. Scores may be cancelled if, during post-test analysis, there is evidence of cheating. Scores may be cancelled without an offer of a retest.

How long are LSAT—India^TM scores valid?

Starting in 2019, an LSAT—India^TM score became valid for 5 years. However, you should check with any law college you are considering about whether they will accept a score received during a prior year.

If my score is cancelled, will I be offered a retest?

What activities count as ‘misconduct’ on the test day?

The following describes some forms of misconduct and is grounds for cancellation of your score. This list is for illustration purposes only and is NOT an exhaustive list. It counts as misconduct if a candidate is found:

• Using or accessing any books, notes, or study material of any kind.
• Permitting any other person any kind of access to the test content or computer you are using for testing.
• Modifying the web camera’s view in any way except to permit a better view of your face.
• Having any electronic device other than the testing equipment in the workspace.
• Communicating or interacting with anyone other (aside from the support team, if necessary).
• Speaking aloud.
• Allowing your face to leave the webcam’s frame on screen.
• Attempting to run any software application besides the test application.
• Attempting to copy the test material text or record the screen.
• Connecting or disconnecting any external storage devices.
• Taking the test in a cybercafé, library, or other public place.
• Taking the test in the same room at the same time as another Candidate.
• Sharing details of the test in any form, oral or written, which includes sharing test content on the internet or through any means or media.
• Collaborating or receiving assistance from any other person in answering the test questions.

What does the Percentile Score in LSAT—India^TM test indicate?

To aid you in interpreting your LSAT—India^TM Scaled Score, a percentile for your scaled score is reported. Your percentile reflects the percentage of candidates for your programme whose scores were lower than yours within the test administration you took. For example, a percentile of 79.66% indicates that you scored higher than 79.66% of test takers for your programme who took the LSAT—India^TM within the same administration. Note that the percentile of test takers seeking entrance to a 5 Year Integrated Law Programme cannot be compared to the percentile of those seeking entrance to a 3 Year LL. B Programme.

What is Scaled Score in LSAT—India^TM?

Your LSAT—India^TM Scaled Score is based on the number of questions you answered correctly (your raw score) and is an estimate of your actual proficiency in the skills tested. As there are slight differences in the difficulty of different versions of the LSAT—India^TM across test administrations, these raw scores are not directly comparable. For this reason, your raw score is converted to an LSAT—India^TM Scaled Score that ranges from 420 to 480, with 420 being the lowest possible score and 480 being the highest possible score. LSAT—India^TM Scaled Scores can be directly compared across different administrations and testing years.

Where can I download my scorecard?

You will be able to download your score report by logging into your registration application dashboard once the results are announced.

Do law colleges in India accept the online LSAT—India^TM as a valid alternative to the standard LSAT—India^TM delivered earlier in paper and pencil mode?
